Inlet Point Harbor is a gated community with a man-made harbor dug into the middle of the neighborhood. Most homes surrounding the harbor have docking spaces immediately behind their property, where boats are docked parallel to the shore. Each dock has its own gangway and floating dock with a wood-plank surface. Over time, some docks have been resurfaced, power lifts have been added, and other modifications have taken place to suit individual owners. Two additional areas allow landlocked lots to dock their boats. These additional docks have two slips with a finger on one side and a pile in the middle.
The harbor is well protected from the buffeting that could come from being so close to the intracoastal waterway. It is also worth noting that the mouth of the harbor is just a little over half a mile from the Carolina Beach Inlet. This inlet is not maintained and can be a bit tricky and bumpy to get in and out of. On the north side of the inlet is Masonboro Island, with 15 miles of undeveloped oceanfront beach to explore.
