Bay Shore Estates is on the south side of the Bay River and Moores Creek off the Pamlico Sound. This is a very remote, sparsely developed area. Reaching the closest substantial small city, New Bern, will take at least an hour by car. A good grocery store is only about a 10-minute drive south in Oriental. If you are looking for solitude and quiet, you found it.
The common docks are off lot 22 on Moores Creek, close to the entrance of the subdivision. Based on the plat map all of the properties in Bay Shore Estates are waterfront, and most have their own docks. Consequently the common docks appear to be getting little use. There were no boats docked there the day I arrived. Like many such developments. The docks are bare bones, little in the way of hardware cleats, ladders etc. And no utilities. They are a fixed height and all wood construction. They are a bit weathered but not in need of immediate repair. There is also a ramp for launching, which could come in handy regardless of whether you are docking there or elsewhere in the neighborhood.
The docks are right next to someone’s personal property which could lead to restrictions of use.
