Dutchman Creek Villas offers a tremendous catalogue of amenities. The dwelling units are smallish, but the property includes two pools (one on a small private island on the ICW), a boardwalk, a gazebo, a clubhouse, a fish-cleaning station, a boat storage lot, a day dock for small boat launches, and a top-notch marina. All have been well maintained. A public boat ramp is just east of the complex and generates a lot of activity, particularly on weekends. A chain-link fence encloses the entire condo property. Non-residents may rent slips, but that does not entitle the tenant to use the pool or clubhouse—no live- a-boards. The tennis court looks like it has fallen into benign neglect. Overall, a fantastic value.
The Village at Lucas Cove is a subdivision of 14 lots on a small spit of land on the north side of Oak Island. The lots are small, and all the houses sit on piles. The marina has 16 slips. A couple of slips are owned but the builder’s clients from elsewhere on Oak Island. Being a relatively new facility, the docks are in good physical condition. It’s a bit of a hike out to the docks, a little shy of 800 feet. But it’s nicely landscaped with gravel walkways and an elevated pier over wetland areas. The last section of the pier ends at a covered pavilion with an aluminum gangway connecting to the docks. Every slip has a power lift.
