Cordgrass Bay is a condominium complex on the north end of Wrightsville Beach. It has been difficult to get an exact unit count, but it’s about 60. Some buildings have 8 units (4 per floor), while others have 6 (3 per floor). It appears 3 basic floor plans repeat as bookends in each 6-unit building. The square footage ranges from 1280 to 1525. All are 3-bedroom; some are 2-bath, and some are 3-bath.
A total of 20 slips are available on the docks. If a sale occurs, the association conveys the slip by certificate. There are no finger piers, only piles. So boaters must board from the bow or the stern, depending on how the boat is docked. The slips are 24 feet. The dock is a floating platform. Utility pedestals are shared between 4 slips. There are no dock boxes and no power lifts.
The docks are on Big Lollipop Bay, which leads to the intracoastal waterway. You’re about 1.5 miles from the intracoastal; another 2 miles southwest will get you to the Wrightsville Beach Bridge. The total distance to Masonboro Inlet and Blue Water will be about 5.4 miles. That will also put you at the north end of Masonboro Island, a 7.5-mile-long undeveloped barrier island that can be accessed in several locations off the intracoastal waterway.
Community participation was only moderate, but I was visiting in the off-season.
