Dowry Creek is a mixed-use community just east of Belhaven, NC, on the Pungo River, which feeds into the Pamlico River. The Dowry Creek Marina adjoins the property and includes a pool, clubhouse, tennis courts, restaurant, and a well-equipped dock. Still, membership is not automatically included in the neighborhood’s yearly association fees. If you want to join the marina, you can get a social membership, but there is no guarantee of a slip. Half of the slips belong to individuals, and half to the marina. They were once attached to the Dowry Creek neighborhood, but slip owners can sell to non-Dowry Creek owners, so few slips still have any connection to the neighborhood. Eight condos sit on the eastern end of the property, and each is assigned a boat slip, most with power lifts, as shown above. Most waterfront properties in Dowry Creek have their own docks, and the neighborhood has a ramp for owners to use.
