Swann Plantation Townhouses is an 18-unit townhouse complex built in three clusters overlooking the Northeast Cape Fear River. As the crow flies, the complex is about 8.2 miles from downtown Wilmington, NC. That’s closer to 20 miles of meandering river. Add another 26 miles to the mouth of the Cape Fear River and blue water. Toss in currents and the river’s tidal nature, and traveling to and from the Atlantic could turn into an all-day event. When the tide is strongly flowing out with the current of the river, you might as well drop anchor and take a nap.
All Swann Plantation Townhouses are 2-bedroom, 2 & 1/2 bath homes of around 1300 square feet. Parking is under the unit, and you access the second floor via stairs at the back (riverside) of each unit. The main living area, kitchen, and combined dining area are on the second floor, along with a half bath. The two bedrooms are on the 3rd floor, each with an attached full bath. There is space for a full-size washer and dryer off the hallway. Decks overlook the river on both the second and third floors.
The 18 units have 10 slips, and the slips are unassigned. One might assume 10 slips are enough, since most are unused. The slips are floating. There are no fingers, so boarding is from the bow or stern, depending on how you dock. The docks are wood-framed with wood decking, with minimal hardware and no utilities.
