Mitchell Harbour is a fairly small community with 25 lots on the shore of Mitchell Creek, about 2 miles south of the Neuse River. It is a remote area. It is about 10 miles from Havelock and Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station (and a PX if you are a veteran), but it's probably more like a 15-minute drive.
The Moorings is a subdivision of substantial houses on large lots. The community has 50 lots and 20 boat slips on a common dock. Seventeen waterfront lots have their own boat slips. The common docks are well constructed and well maintained. The surface is of a durable concrete-based hog slat on a fixed-height wooden frame. This secluded subdivision is about 15 miles north of Beaufort, NC, and about 7 miles east of Havelock, NC, and the Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station with a PX.
